Financial Secretary Paul Chan will depart for Santiago, Chile, on October 12 and head to the US on October 15 to attend various meetings.

 

In Santiago, Mr Chan will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Finance Ministers’ Meeting and take part in discussions at various sessions.

 

He will also attend the APEC Finance Ministers’ Retreat on October 14 and hold bilateral talks with other officials attending the ministers’ meeting.

 

In New York, Mr Chan will meet US banking industry representatives on October 16.

 

He will then depart for Washington, DC, to attend the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) as a member of the Chinese delegation on October 18.

 

During his stay, he will call on the senior management of the IMF and the WBG as well as key players in the finance industry.

 

Mr Chan will return to Hong Kong on October 21.

 

Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury James Lau will be Acting Financial Secretary during Mr Chan’s absence.
