The High Court on Friday denied bail to a 15-year-old teen charged with alleged weapons possession after being detained during a protest in Tuen Mun last Saturday.

Announcing his decision, the judge, Andrew Chan, noted that the accused was already on bail in another case when he was detained.

The judge also urged the Department of Justice to speed up its examination of the evidence to ensure the trial could proceed as soon as possible and shorten the time for which the boy is remanded in custody.

About 100 supporters of the boy shouted in the court to protest against the judge’s decision.

The case has been adjourned to November 15.
