An Indonesian journalist, hit in the eye by a projectile on Sunday while covering a protest in Wan Chai, has completely lost her eyesight in one eye.

Her lawyer, Michael Vidler, said doctors treating Veby Indah had confirmed that the eye injury she received, as a result of being shot by police, had resulted in permanent blindness in her right eye.

The lawyer said that the pupil of Indah’s eye had been ruptured by the force of the impact.

The lawyer said evidence gathered pointed to the projectile being a rubber bullet and not a beanbag round, as originally thought.
