The MTR Corporation says it will be closing down more stations from 11am, in addition to Admiralty, Wan Chai and Prince Edward that have been shuttered since first thing.

Causeway Bay, Sham Shui Po, Wong Tai Sin, Sha Tin, Che Kung Temple, Tsuen Wan, Tsuen Wan West and Tuen Mun stations will all be closed “due to upcoming public activities”.

The railway company said trains will not be stopping at these stations from 11am “as a prudent measure to ensure the safety of passengers and our staff”.

It also warned that the entrances of other stations may be closed without prior notice.

The corporation said the measures were being taken after a risk assessment and discussions with relevant government departments.

Meanwhile the Airport Express will operate a non-stop service from Hong Kong Station to the airport from 2pm, skipping stops in between, amid calls on social media for transport links to Chek Lap Kok to be disrupted.
