A man reported to be an off-duty police officer was injured in a knife attack near the Kwai Chung police station on Friday night, in what a source suggested was an ambush.

A source told RTHK the victim was attacked by three knife-wielding men wearing black as soon as he stepped out of the station after work at around 11pm.

The officer, said to be responsible for the station’s armoury, was described as having suffered wounds deep enough to expose bone. The source said he was conscious when he was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital.

The assailants were said to have fled after the attack.
