An operational event at Taishan Nuclear Power Station on August 20 had no effect on the plant’s operational safety, the Security Bureau said today.
The case, reported on the Taishan Nuclear Power Joint Venture Company’s website, involved two ventilation dampers at the safety plant.
Station staff discovered the dampers’ remote control was unable to function, so they took corrective measures and returned the system functionality back to normal.
The bureau explained the event was classified as a “Level 0” on the International Nuclear & Radiological Event Scale and had no effect on the station’s safe operation, workers’ health, nearby public or the environment.
All nuclear generating units currently in operation at the plant remain safe and stable, the bureau added.
