The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance caseload fell to 220,775 in October, down 0.1% on September, the Social Welfare Department announced today.

 

The total number of recipients stood at 311,983.

 

Low-earnings cases dropped 1.8% to 3,091 when compared with September.

 

Old age cases decreased 0.4% to 136,996 and single parent cases slipped 0.3% to 23,868.

 

Unemployment cases rose 1.5% to 12,282.

 

Ill-health cases edged up 0.6% to 23,650 and permanent disability cases increased slightly 0.3% to 16,805.
