The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance caseload fell to 221,106 in September, down 0.4% from August, the Social Welfare Department announced today.

     

The total number of recipients stood at 311,995.

     

Low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month fall of 2.1% to 3,149.

 

Single parent cases dropped 0.9% to 23,942 and old age cases slipped 0.7% to 137,584.

     

Unemployment cases edged up 1.5% to 12,101.

 

Ill-health cases rose 0.3% to 23,519 and permanent disability cases increased slightly by 0.1% to 16,758.
