The Leisure & Cultural Services Department today removed an old and valuable tree in Sha Tin to ensure public safety.

The mango tree on Ngau Pei Sha Street, which had obvious wood decay at the trunk base, was at risk of collapsing.

An inspection jointly conducted with the Development Bureau’s Greening, Landscape & Tree Management Section in June confirmed the tree was withered.

The department removed the tree after consulting the Sha Tin District Council.
